eNews Spring Edition!

Welcome to the Spring Edition of Bravien eNews.

Firstly, another massive congratulations to Jeremy Gillman-Wells, our principal adviser and Director of Bravien Financial for the completion of the 1,227km Future2 bike odyssey from Sydney to Melbourne! They raised over $140,000 for disadvantaged young Australians! Fundraising for the Future2 Foundation closes shortly - so follow the link below if you wish to help support Team Bravien and this wonderful organisation!

Here at Bravien, we are proud to announce that Jeremy Gillman-Wells has successfully completed the Aged Care Guru accreditation course, run by Australian aged care champion Rachel Lane. This course has reinforced the need to consider aged care planning as early as possible - it's a minefield and getting it wrong can cause a lot of damage to the family's wealth.

A quick update if you have a self managed fund (SMF): new regulations mean that from this financial year, you as trustee(s) must consider insurance and risk management as part of the fund's investment strategy. The discussion must consider death, total & permanent disability and salary continuance cover. Further, all assets in the SMF must now be reported at market value. This means that if you are holding property or art in your SMF, they will have to be properly valued before 30 June 2013.

Failure to comply with these requirements may carry a potential penalty of up to $11,000! We'll be talking with trustees as we do progress meetings, but if you are not sure...talk to us.

In this eNews edition we cover topics on Aged Care, using your super to make the right transition to retirement, road test a yummy fruit and nut slice and more!

Enjoy the articles and if you would like to discuss your situation, please do not hesitate to contact our team on 1300 BRAVIEN (1300 272 843).
